Orthopaedics - Limb Lengthening and Limb Deformity Correction

The division provides a comprehensive array of treatment options for limb length discrepancies (LLDs) and deformity correction in children and adults. Staff is expert in the use of external and internal fixation modalities, including the Ilizarov and Taylor Spatial frames as well as lengthening over nails. Additionally, epiphysiodesis and growth plate stapling, prosthetic reconstruction surgery, and percutaneous osteotomy techniques are offered.

Conditions treated include limb length discrepancies and deformities caused by: trauma, including malunion and nonunion; congenital limb length discrepancies; achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias; infection involving the bone (osteomylelitis) and joint (septic arthritis); infection involving the bone (osteomylelitis) and joint (septic arthritis); illnesses such as Blount's Disease; pediatric hip disorders; joint stiffness following injury, infection or other causes; andsoft tissue scarring.
