The division provides diagnosis and treatment of all operative and non-operative hand and upper extremity conditions including fractures, nerve and tendon transfers, and arthritides. The division specializes in microvascular procedures for brachial plexus injuries and performs vascularized bone transfers including those for avascular necrosis of the hip. It also treats inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Joint replacements of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and finger are performed. Management of flexor tendon injuries including failed flexor tendon surgery and tendon grafts is provided.The division addresses a wide range of problems including: stiffness and painful conditions, mutilating injuries, skin problems, and vascular disorders of the upper extremity. Soft tissue tumors of the hand, pediatric hand injuries and cerebral palsy are also treated. Expertise is available in the treatment of infections, microvascular bone and soft-tissue reconstruction, infected nonunions, and difficult fractures requiring corrective osteotomies.
