The staff of the division has special training and interest in the diagnosis and management of high-risk pregnancies. Services include amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, alpha-fetoprotein tests, chromosomal analysis for congenital malformations, and detailed ultrasonography and color Doppler flow studies to identify fetal anomalies. A genetic scan is available for those patients who decline genetic amniocentesis. These services are supported by genetic counseling and education for parents.The division also has experience in the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal HIV infection and other viral infections such as TORCH.
