Peripheral nerves relay messages between the
brain and the body. When a peripheral nerve is
damaged—whether by injury, disease, or another
medical disorder—the symptoms range from
a tingling feeling to shooting pain to paralysis.
Some peripheral nerve conditions can be treated
with medication and physical and occupational
therapies; for others, surgery is necessary to
relieve chronic pain and/or restore the nerve’s
function.
The Peripheral Nerve Center at the Neurological
Institute of New Jersey is a comprehensive center
that treats all types of peripheral nerve disorders,
using state-of-the art Magnetic Resonance Imaging
neurography, the latest in electrodiagnostic studies,
and the skill of an experienced surgical team
and other specialists in conditions affecting
the nerves. |
