A
person who meets even three of the following five criteria
for metabolic syndrome are at greater risk for developing
heart disease, diabetes, or stroke:
- Waist
measurement of 40 inches or more for men and 35 inches
or more for women

Blood pressure of 130/85 mm Hg or higher
-
Fasting glucose level of 110 mg/dL or higher
-
Triglyceride level of 150 mg/dL or higher
-
High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol level less
than 40 mg/dL for men and 50 mg/dL for women.
