Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) is designed as an intermediate course for the credentialed healthcare provider who infrequently see critically ill children. The name of the course is descriptive of the course purpose and is designed to enhance basic pediatric life support knowledge to prepare the learner to initiate and manage the first few minutes of a pediatric arrest or prevent the arrest of a pediatric victim at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. PEARS is for any healthcare provider who might encounter pediatric patients in their profession. It is not intended for those staff credentialed for advanced pediatric skills that routinely provide pediatric care. This course is also preapproved for EMT CEUs and the NJ State EMT Training Fund Form is acceptable to cover all the course costs for NJ volunteer EMTs

All University Hospital employees will be charged $45.00. All non-University Hospital employees be charged $80.00. NJ Volunteer EMTS can submit a Training Fund Form that is completed and signed by the squad designee. Anyone unable to attend the class once they have been scheduled should call to cancel or reschedule 24 hours prior to the class, failure to do so will result in a $30.00 administrative fee. This course is offered by The University Hospital Training Center, an authorized provider of AHA CPR courses. Fees charged do not represent revenue to the AHA or its affiliates.
